Schedule:

5-7 Year Olds - 4:00-5:00p

8-11 Year Olds - 4:30-6:00p

12+ - 5:30-7:00p

What to wear at auditions:

  • Any leotard, fitted top, half top, leggings, shorts, etc that is ALL BLACK!

  • Hair must be in a clean high or low bun with no “flyaways” and secured with hairspray and bobby pins.

  • Preferred dance shoes (pirouettes, jazz shoes, or foot undies) *no socks*

What to expect: 

Dancers will be auditioned with technique, flexibility, and choreography. Each dancer will receive a number at the beginning of auditions. They will then learn one combination in which they will perform in front of the judges in groups. They will also execute technique and flexibility in a separate portion. Once your age group is called you will enter the studio room to execute your performance.

Tryout Tips:

  • Bring water

  • Be confident and bring a positive attitude

  • Be on time!!

The Star South Dance Company is divided into age and ability levels. 

Mini Company - Ages 5-8

Petite Company- Ages 6-9

Junior Company - Ages 9-11

Teen Company - Ages 11- 14

Senior Company - (Advanced teens)

Dancers will be contacted the following week if they made the team. The first requirement for the new team will be the Summer Intensive July 22-26, this camp is mandatory! There will also be a very important parent meeting scheduled for all members to discuss the policies and the commitment of Dance Company and what is expected. This will be an informative meeting about the upcoming year and give parents the opportunity to ask any questions they may have. We will hold this meeting the on July 22nd before the dancers begin classes.
